Applications are invited for
*two PhD Scholarships (M.A. or equivalent, half time, pay scale BAT IIa) *
for a 2-year project on �Economic Calculation� funded by the German
Research Association (DFG) starting *July 2006 or later*. The project
is part of the Research Group �Knowledge, Finance & Society� (Karin
Knorr Cetina). Extension is possible but subject to evaluation by the DFG.
One scholarship involves research on the development and introduction
of economic formulae; the other scholarship involves research on the
social use of calculation tools on financial markets. Both scholarships
involve empirical research.
You should be a highly qualified and motivated researcher in the field
of sociology of finance and / or sociology of science and technology
with experience in qualitative research and an excellent command of
English. You should also have a good knowledge of mathematic especially
stochastics (first scholarship), and a good knowledge of sociology of
culture (second scholarship).
