Job Description:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager of the Brewery, Automation
Engineer will provide hands on maintenance engineering support of all
Brewery operations. The candidate will also provide lead control
system engineering on Brewery expansion projects, responsible for the
specification, design, and installation of automation and control
systems for the plant. Specific responsibilities are:
- Provide maintenance engineering support of all Brewery operations
minimizing critical operational downtime.
- Execution of projects of any scope to design, install and modify
intruments and components for connectivity of critical utility
process variables and critical utility and manufacturing process and
equipment alarms.
- Define instrument and controls requirements and establish control
system design criteria based on engineering analysis and evaluation.
- Provide electrical and mechanical design of automation and control
systems from field devices to PLC/SCADA platforms. Insure all designs
conform to all applicable codes and regulations such as OSHA, NEC and
cGMP.
- Participate in development, testing and implementation of
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), HMI embedded chip technology
operator interfaces and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) application software for utility processes, equipment and
systems.
- Provide engineering support on all commissioning and validation
initiatives.
- Define and generate system requirements and system specifications.
Assist in development of control system standards, engineering
procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Participate on Factory Acceptance Tests of equipment and skids.
Some limited travel will be required.
- Provide supervision of electrical and mechanical trades and
contractors during control system and utility equipment installations.
- Provide engineering support of maintenance activities and
initiatives. Provide diagnostic troubleshooting on PLC/SCADA systems.
Provide off-hour call-in and on-call support.
Qualifications:
- A BS/MS in chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering with 10
years of experience in Control Systems Engineering. Experience in a
beverage or pharmaceutical industry a plus.
- Proficiency in PLC ladder logic development required. Experience
with Allen-Bradley family PLCs and SLCs required.
- Proven experience in SCADA application software development,
proficiency with Visual Basic, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA),
SQL and relational database applications including Oracle and MS SQL
Server. Experience with Intellution iFIX / GE Fanuc Proficy SCADA
Development software required.
- Experience in the application and development of HMI software,
including Allen-Bradley PanelViews and Total Control Products
QuickPanels is desired.
- Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and Access.
- Must be a team role player. Multidiscipline group interaction and
collaboration skills required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Hands on approach during project installation and startup
activities.
