To celebrate the launch of the five new UCD Graduate Schools, UCD is offering over 100 UCD Ad Astra Research Scholarships.
The UCD Graduate Schools are closely linked to UCD's Research Institutes and offer a wide range of innovative, modular programmes for graduate study and research. The UCD Graduate Schools are each guided by principles of excellence in education and research, collaboration, national and international linkages, lifelong learning and career development.
The UCD Ad Astra Research Scholarships are aimed at excellent candidates who wish to pursue PhD degrees by research with participation in PhD programmes which include transferable skills
modules. UCD Ad Astra Research Scholars will be provided with opportunities to support some undergraduate teaching programmes. Scholarships will be tenable for up to 4 years and carry a stipend of €16,000 per annum plus an additional grant to cover fees. To be eligible to be considered for a UCD Ad Astra Research Scholarship a candidate should have obtained or expect to obtain a 1st Class Honours Degree or at least a 2.1 Honours Degree or equivalent and be qualified for direct admission to a PhD programme for the first time in September 2006. Additional evidence of having demonstrated an aptitude and interest in research would be advantageous.
The areas of research for the UCD Ad Astra Research Scholarships cover a very broad range of disciplines across the Schools, Institutes and Colleges.
