Chief Engineer, Civil Structural Engineering
Basic Responsibilities:
Organize, execute and control design engineering projects efficiently and effectively in providing excellent engineering design services, including feasibility studies, conceptual design, draft/sketch, cost estimation, AFE document preparation, detailed design, specifications, material procurement, and project support during construction phase for all Jobsite area, in order to ensure the achievement of the customers’ needs and requirements within the budget and timeframe according to company’s policies and procedures.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Organize and execute design engineering projects in providing engineering design services, including feasibility studies, conceptual design, draft/sketches, detailed design, specifications, and project support during construction phase for all Jobsite area.
• Organize the scope planning and definition phase of a project and those related to the technical standards, codes, and specifications as a Project Engineer (PE) and/or a discipline engineer for a project, in order to determine the most appropriate engineering design for the project.
• Communicate and negotiate with the project stakeholder about the required quality standards, estimated budget and project duration and schedule in order to provide customer success and on time schedule.
• Conduct risk assessment process to ensure that all risk factors are identified and evaluated, and appropriate contingency allowance included in the cost estimate.
• Coordinate and develop the material take-off and help the material procurement process in order to ensure that all materials required for the project will be available according to the project plan.
• Coordinate the AFE document preparation and help in the preparation of cost estimation for a project and communicate with the project stakeholders for obtaining the project justification to ensure that the scope of works and cost estimate described in the AFE document meets the stakeholder expectations.
• Arrange bid and order of direct charge materials, to ensure all materials needed for the project will be available as per project schedule and within the approved budget.
• Supervise order of materials from stock warehouse to ensure that all materials needed for the project will be available as per project schedule and within the approved budget.
• Coordinate the development of schedule for engineering deliverables and monitor the actual progress status in order to ensure the project is within schedule.
• Monitor and control engineering man-hours spent and the productivity factor for an engineering activity during the execution phase of a project plan.
• Monitor and control project expenditures in order to ensure that the project will not exceed the approved allowable budget.
• Monitor and control any changes of the project scope of works and communicate these changes to Project and Cost Control for further process.
• Review and check engineering drawings and material specifications in order to ensure its accuracy with the stakeholder needs and its conformance with the existing codes and standards.
• Build and maintain communication with vendor in order to ensure that the materials or services supplied by vendor meet with project objectives and requirements.
Requirements:
• Minimum 7 years of experience in design and construction in related field.
• Able to be assigned in remote area.
• Fluency in English, both speaking and writing.
• Experience in site practical problem solving.
• Graduated from reputable university, S-1 minimum.
• Understanding on Cost & Project control in general.
• Familiar with Interdisciplinary correlation activity in a project.
• Familiar with Civil / Structural materials specifications.
• Capable of handling Civil / Structural design on wide range applications.
