KPC-COAL FROM INDONESIA
PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) operates a coal mine in Sangatta East
Kalimantan and is one of the largest export coal mines in the world is
an Indonesian company owned by PT Bumi Resources. Coal Production in
2006 is expected to exceed 30 Mtpa and there are plans to further
expansion in 2007 and beyond. In material movement terms, KPC is also
one of the largest open pit mines in the world with a fleet of over
200 haul trucks and 30 shovels moving over 2 millions tones of
material per day.
An opportunity exists for a seasoned, high caliber, professional to
join the Company with job assignment in Sangatta - East Kalimantan for
the position of :
General Manager Health Safety & Environment
Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager Health Safety
& Environment (HSE) leads the HSE Division team of around 99 employees
to achieve KPC's business goals for occupational health, safety,
security and the environment. This position is a key member of the
senior management team.
Key management elements of the position include:
� Develop the Division's strategic and annual business plans to
determine key priorities consistent with KPC's business goals.
� Formulate, manage and monitor the Division's operating and capital
budgets.
� Administer and control major HSE and security contracts.
� Monitor and review the Division's performance against targets,
highlight deficiencies and implement improvement strategies.
� Drive KPC's Prima Nirbhaya (NOSA based) safety system and
environmental management system (ISO 14001 based) to achieve worldis
best HSE practice across KPC and Contractor Operations.
� Monitor, report on and review KPC and Contractor performance against
established HSE targets, as well as, adherence to government HSE
regulations and standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
� 10-15 years of proven performance at senior management level in a
mining/heavy industrial environment, with significant responsibilities
for managing HSE systems.
� Ideally have international exposure.
� A tertiary degree, preferably S2 in either the mining, civil,
process or maintenance engineering disciplines would be hjghly
regarded, as would formal post-graduate qualifications in the safety
and/or environmental management fields.
� Sound business acumen, strategic planning and operations management
skills to establish and achieve long term goals, as well as, meet
immediate business performance targets.
