Vacancies AusAID, The Development Cooperation Section of the Australian Embassy is seeking to appoint a number of positions to work as part of a team whose task is to manage the Australian Government's multi-million dollar program of assistance to Indonesia. The objective is to assist developing countries to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development.

Background
Higher ducation and training provides people in developing countries with the skills and qualifications to drive their own national development and reform agendas.
Scholarships develop and foster relationships between Australia and people of the region.
This year, the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs launched a White Paper which outlines how we will achieve the doubling of Australia's aid budget globally from its 2004 level to about $4 billion annually by 2010. A key theme of the future aid program is investing in people. This will include a major scaling up of investments in education, including doubling scholarship numbers to the Asia Pacific region over the next five years.

AusAID Indonesia offers three scholarships programs - The Australian Development Scholarships (ADS), the Australian Partnership Scholarships (APS) and the newly launched Australian Leadership Awards (ALAs). AusAID is seeking an experienced program specialist to provide senior level program management for its scholarships, higher education and training program.

Duties of the Position
Responsibility for oversighting management of AusAID Indonesia's scholarships, higher education and training program and monitoring, reporting and providing advice on this program and related policy issues. Contributing to development of new scholarship, higher education and
training strategies, policies and initiatives. Liaison and coordination within AusAID and with other Australian Fovernment departments, the Indonesian Government, other donors and NGOs, media and civil society on scholarship, higher education and training issues. Oversighting activity management of scholarships, higher education and training activities including activity monitoring, reporting and expenditure Lead and manage staff within the scholarships, higher education and training unit

Selection Criteria
-Essential A university degree (preferably at post-graduate level), in a field related to development assistance, from a recognised international institution.
Highly effective leadership and management skills and demonstrated capacity to work in a team environment.
Strong communication, negotiation, liaison and representation skills, particularly in written and spoken English.
Demonstrated experience managing development programs (preferably within a bilateral or multilateral donor or NGO).
A strategic and innovative approach to policy development.
Knowledge of the Australian aid program, key economic, political, social and cultural issues in development and whole of government policy.

-Desirable
Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia.
This position will report to the Deputy Representative, Education, Infrastructure and Loans, AusAID Jakarta.
